Arriving later in 2006 Audi Q7 4.2 V8 is based closely on the Pikes Peak quattro concept and shares the same platform
as the SUVs from Volkswagen Touareg or Porsche Cayenne. However, Q7 is larger and an almost 6-inches longer wheelbase gives
it a leaner, much more athletic appearance. The car is very well proportioned and an overall look gives the impression of a large
A6 Avant; a high shoulder line with the narrow window area, an angled rear window, the same shape taillights.
Audi is happy to admit that Q7 is not a true SUV and designed rather for on-road use. Double-spoke 20-inch wheels are a clear
evidence of that. The quattro system will be the same torsen based found on most of the Audis.
The interior of the 2006 Audi Q7 4.2 V8 is very similar to that of the new A6 but with more surface area, even despite some additional
controls, seems a little less cluttered. The driver's seat feels more like sitting in a car than an SUV. Second-row
seats give the passengers plenty of headroom and legroom as well as a brilliant view. Third-raw seating is optional
and there is just enough room for children, as with most vehicles of this class.
It is expected the Q7 will offer both V6 and V8, delivering 310 horsepower and 302 lb-ft of torque with the shifting
duties handled by a standard Tiptronic six-speed automatic. High-performance petrol and TDI engines together with the
cutting-edge suspension will most certainly guarantee a maximum driving pleasure.
All in all the new 2006 Audi Q7 is a five-door, seven-seater SUV with class, spaciousness and luxurious comfort that
will set new standards in its class. Prices and country specific options have not yet been confirmed, but are believed
to start at around $45,000
